HP Touchpoint Manager: Cross-Platform UI Design for iOS and Windows 10
HP Touchpoint Manager is a versatile cloud-based application designed to enhance productivity by enabling streamlined device management for users with limited IT support. This project involved designing a cohesive user interface for both iOS and Windows 10 platforms, with a focus on consistent user experience and platform-specific functionality.
Challenges and Objectives:
- Cross-Platform Consistency: Create a unified design that preserves a familiar and seamless experience across iOS and Windows 10, aligning with each platform’s standards and user expectations.
- User Access Differentiation: Design a login experience on iOS that identifies and tailors access for Company vs. Personal accounts, providing users with appropriate permissions based on their account type.
- Windows 10 Installation: Develop an intuitive Windows 10 desktop interface that supports straightforward installation and usability, accommodating the desktop-specific interactions users expect.
- Security Integration: Ensure secure login by integrating Azure Active Directory, allowing users to authenticate safely on both mobile and desktop versions.
Solution and Design Approach:
Prototypes were created in Adobe Illustrator, allowing detailed layout planning and user flow mapping prior to the availability of Adobe XD and Figma. This involved:
- Platform-Specific Adaptations: Customizing UI elements for iOS and Windows 10 to meet each system’s design guidelines while ensuring functional consistency across devices.
- Guided Enrollment Process: Designing step-by-step screens for easy onboarding, leading users through each stage of enrollment and login.
- Secure Authentication: Implementing Azure Active Directory to maintain robust security, meeting both functional and compliance standards.
Outcome:
The project delivered a cohesive, user-friendly interface across iOS and Windows 10, providing HP Touchpoint Manager users with a familiar experience that met both security requirements and platform-specific needs. The design enhanced productivity by allowing users to manage devices seamlessly across mobile and desktop environments.
